Fibromyalgia and Neck Pain Treatment Options in Jacksonville and Orange Park, FL

Are you suffering from neck pain or fibromyalgia? Are you looking for information about treatment options? If so, you're not alone. Sitting behind a desk all day, lack of regular exercise, commuting, and reading from screens make many people develop conditions and habits that often cause pain. We at First Coast Medical Center have years of experience helping patients suffering from neck pain and fibromyalgia.

.

What Is Fibromyalgia and What Causes It?

Fibromyalgia is a disease defined by extensive muscle and bone pain. It also often causes extreme exhaustion, sleeping difficulties, memory issues, and mental health problems. Most experts agree that the disease causes pain by impacting the way the brain receives and interprets pain signals from the body. Symptom onset often appears to be linked to trauma, such as receiving a serious physical injury or undergoing surgery. Psychological stress and certain types of infections have also been identified as possible causes. Women tend to suffer from fibromyalgia more frequently than men and patients often experience headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, as well as mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. There's also evidence that some people are genetically more inclined to develop the condition.

How Can the Neck Pain and Exhaustion of Fibromyalgia Be Treated?

There are several treatment options that are appropriate for addressing fibromyalgia, such as physical therapy and chiropractic adjustments. Physical therapy can often improve patients' quality of life by increasing their strength and range of motion. A chiropractor can provide pain-reducing spinal adjustments that can get you back up and moving with less pain. Many patients have found occupational therapy useful to minimize the physical challenges that many fibromyalgia patients struggle with in modern workplaces.
