Teaming Up for Optimal Health
Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a patient's care. If the chiropractor simply reduces pain and stops there, the chances of the condition causing pain recurring are much greater. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, and thus pain, it is necessary to continue receiving care even though your symptoms are gone. This is First Coast Medical Center's second step towards getting patients back to complete health: continuing care.
During the correction/restorative phase of our patients' care, they don't have to receive adjustments as often as during the first phase of care and, depending on a patient's particular circumstances, he or she may begin doing exercises and stretches either at the center or at home to help accelerate healing.
Patients should not be discouraged if they have mild flare-ups in symptoms on occasion. This is normal. Flare-ups are bound to occur during this phase because the body has not yet fully healed. Depending on the severity of patients' injury or condition and how long they have been suffering from it, this phase of care can last anywhere from a few months to few couple years. Either way, ensuring ongoing treatment in this phase is vital to get patients back to health.
